Join us for our 2nd annual "Jewish Christmas". What else do Jews do on Christmas but eat Chinese food and watch a delightful movie! $13 members $15 Guests. This will be a great night of family and fun. We will be showing the movie "When Do We Eat?". This is an award winning comedy about the dysfunctional family of Ira and Peggy Stuckman together for Passover for the first time in three years. Convening for the "world's fastest Passover Seder" are Ira and Peggy's children: Zeke, a misunderstood druggie, Ethan, a failed entrepreneur turned Chasidic, Lionel, an autistic teen and Nikki, a sex therapist - plus their cousin Vanessa and their estranged, lesbian half-sister, Jennifer. Sound like a modern Ten Plagues? Throw in a one-eyed Israeli tent salesman, a meal "kosher enough for Moses" and one tablet of Ecstasy, and the stage is set for an evening of Biblical proportions. Will the mismatched collection of guests ever be a family? It would take a whole lot of kosher wine - and maybe a miracle...

About the Organist, Joan Frankel. Joan earned her BS degree in piano and music ed. at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and her MS in voice and music ed. at Bridgeport University in Connecticut, studying with Zelda Manacher and Suzanne Sten-Taubman of Manhattan School of Music. Her music professional career has included teaching music in public and private institutions, in particular Greens Farms Academy of Westport Connecticut, before moving to Florida with her husband, Frederick Frankel, who passed away in 2013. Joan served as organist and director for a number of religious venues, currently as the Choral Director and Founder of Kolot Shalom, the Adult Choir of Congregation Beth Shalom of Brandon.
"It was and still is my intent to maintain his high standards and to share my musical talents with the community, focusing on high quality music and a close relationship for the members of the choir and the congregation as a whole. I am extremely blessed with rich connections of family, friends and music. My favorite quote comes from my former colleague, Cantor Ramon Gilbert of Temple B’nai Israel in Bridgeport, Connecticut: “He who sings, prays twice.” Performing at Temple Beth El with Cantor Deborah Bard on January 12, 2019 is exciting for me, as we interweave music from different traditions in our program. To me, music is truly a universal language." Joan Frankel
