All children are encouraged to come to this family friendly Shabbat. Children and teens will be asked to participate in the service. Everyone is encouraged to bring in their "Pushke" money in a zip lock bag. This is a great way to teach children about Tzedakah (charity).

Of course we always encourage people to bring their children, this is the night that we incorporate them in to the service.

Join us for a wonderful evening.

    High  Holy  Days

    2018—5779

Our services are open to all, without charge.

For reasons of security cards of admission are required for all High Holy Days services. Please call the Temple office (941-755-4900) to request your cards of admission. We are anticipating a full house for the High Holy Days. Plan to arrive early to get the best seat. Seats may be held only until 10 minutes before the service begins.

Temple Beth El is a small Reform congregation led by Rabbi Michael Sternfield and Cantor Deborah Bard. Our congregation is made up of dedicated members but with limited resources. Yet, we serve the entire community and never turn anyone away. We depend greatly upon the generosity of those who attend our High Holy Days services to keep our doors open all year ‘round.

You may mail your check to the Temple or you may contribute online at www.templebethelbradenton.com. Follow the online instructions.
Your financial support will make a great difference and is much appreciated.

This is a family Shabbat. Kids are encouraged to attend. Sukkot celebrates the gathering of the harvest and commemorates the miraculous protection G‑d provided for the children of Israel when they left Egypt. We celebrate Sukkot by dwelling in a foliage-covered booth (known as a sukkah). This service will include prayers for Sukkot and music with a live band! Plus we will visit our Sukkah which will be outside under the stars. This is a family friendly event followed by Oneg Shabbat (desserts!)

This will be a special Havdalah. We will be discussing the film and the real life story of "The Jewish Cardinal". This is the amazing true story of Jean-Marie Lustiger, the son of Polish-Jewish immigrants, who maintained his cultural identity as a Jew even after converting to Catholicism at a young age, and later joining the priesthood. If you have not seen the film, come at 4:00 pm to watch the film. Otherwise, join us for a beautiful Family Pot Luck dinner, (Bring a dish to share -fish, vegetarian or dairy. No meat or desserts please) at 5:30 pm. After dinner, we will light the Havdalah Candle, say a prayer or two and then have a lively discussion on the life of Jean-Marie.

KIDS AND ADULTS WELCOME TO WEAR HALLOWEEN COSTUMES...Join us for a wonderful evening! Rabbi Sternfield will be making a fun Mexican meal and then showing the movie "Coco". Coco is a 2017 American 3D computer-animated fantasy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The story follows a 12-year-old boy named Miguel who is accidentally transported to the Land of the Dead, where he seeks the help of his deceased musician great-great-grandfather to return him to his family among the living. The date coincides with the Mexican festival called the day of the dead, which is Nov 1, right after Halloween. The film is about this festival and the Mexican take on the afterlife, and how we remember and “connect” with our dear ones. The comparison to Jewish rituals of remembrance e.g. yahrzeit, yizkor and cemeteries will be worthwhile to discuss and reflect upon. This will be a fun night for all! Cost: $13 TBE members $15 Guests. No charge for kids under 10!
